Shockers Sink Pirates, Sweep Double Dip.

April 22- The Shockers found themselves at Columbia park in Dunellen on Sunday to take on the Dunellen Pirates in their first double header of the 2013 season. SP Mark Wettengel took the mound for game 1 and delivered a strong outing as usual. "Sarge" put 6 innings of 1 run baseball on his scorecard before giving way to RP Eric Hines to slam the door. 1st year Shocker Matt Grasso gave the offense a spark with a 2-out 2-RBI double in the 1st. The Shocker offense would expand on that lead and finish with a 5-1 victory. Game 2  would allow another Shocker rookie to show off his ability as manager Tim Maynard handed the ball to Owen Harshaney for the second game of the twin bill. The Shocker offense would use Pirate defensive miscues and walks to its advantage and put up 15 runs over the 5 innings necessary to complete the finale. Harshaney fanned 10 over those 5 innings allowing just 2 hits, and zero Pirates to cross the plate. The Nation will look to continue its hot start against the Union County Beavers this coming sunday in Bound Brook.
