Full of questions and not knowing what to expect, the Cubs opened the season against the South River Sharks. The Cubs offense would go on to score 6 runs in the 1st , 4 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd. Behind good defense and their newly acquired starting pitcher Edgar Campusano, the Cubs would allow 3 runs. Two of which came in on errors and one that came in the 9th. Campusano would go 6.1 innings in his 1st outing since 2015 earning the W. Carlos Vicente would come in the 6th with 2 men on base and 1 out. Carlos would strike out the next 2 hitters. In the 9th Carlos would get in a little bit of trouble. With 2 men on and one out, Mike Shearns the Sharks No.5 hitter, would crush a ball against the left field wall to bring in a run. Carlos would keep his composure and handle his business to close out the game. Cubs go on to win 11-3. Still have lots of work to do, is a large roster and guys need work still. The Cubs will go on to face the Pirates this Sunday. Last time the Cubs faced  the Pierates it was the Pirates who ended the Cubs season in 2016 semi -finals as they would go on to win the whole thing. It should be a heck of a weekend against a very good team.
