The fall season continues for the Cubbies as the Cubbies roll over the Twins. Game 1 The Cubs would win 3-0. Joshua Reyes the young Cub continues to improve and keep the team within winning range every week. Josh would go 5.2 innings and would leave the game with the Twins threating to score with man on 2nd and 3rd. With 2 out the Cubs would bring in James Marciano. James would come in and get the 3rd out of the inning and would go on to complete the shutout and get the save for the game. The Cubs offense continues to improve and the most impressive part of it is the speed of the team which seems to have been a key in the 1st game. With coach Joyler Baguet on 3rd base and Elmy Antonio on 1st, Elmy would try to get caught in a run down where coach Joyler Baguet would steal home for the score and Elmy would be safe at 2nd. "I don't remember us ever been able to do that before haha, but it produced a run and it worked out. " Speed has been the theme in the fall and it continues to be so. The Cubs have 31 stolen bases in just 6 games!!!! I don't know if that's a record or not but it is very impressive. The speed has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers and catchers something the Cubs have been missing and need if they are too improve come spring. Behind the offense there is also a good defense. The defense has been more than solid. I only remember 2 or 3 errors in total in all 6 games. When you play solid defense makes pitchers jobs easier and helps the pitcher not have to do everything on their own. The Cubs have been plagued with errors over a few seasons and that is to improve come spring.

Game 2 the Cubs would go on to win 11-0. Again behind solid defense , Jose Alvarez would pitch 5 shutout innings of baseball. The most impressive part of the day was when the Twins loaded the bases with no outs. Jose would dig deep and would make the next batter pop up to 2nd base, the next batter would lineout to left field but shallow as the runner had no chance to tag up. The next batter would ground out and would take any chance of a come back rally the Twins would have. It was very impressive what Jose did, very proud of him that's his 2nd shutout game. But the real test will be the next 2 weeks as the Cubs will face tougher competition and see where they really are. Regardless of the out come I am really impressed with this team. Expectations were not very high but this has turned into a fun team to coach. Lots of energy, lots of positives and the kids are listening and making things happen. Very proud of this group keep it up boys.
