Andrew Lewnes continued to dazzle on the mound as he worked a gem against the Twins. He allowed three hits while striking out eight in a complete game shutout. Joshua Reyes delivered a strong effort but the Reds were backed by Chris Taggart's three run homerun.

With the playoffs quickly approaching the Reds were desperate to get at least a split against the Edison Cubs. They sent out their ace, Andrew Lewnes, who came out firing on the hottest day of the year. He allowed three hits while striking out eight Twins to earn his second win in as many starts to help the Reds take game one 4-0.

The Reds took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Randy Shain singled off Reyes to score the hustling Chris Taggart from second base. The scored remained the same until, Taggart, came up in the sixth inning with two on and two out. The Reds, desperately looking for some breathing room, watched with anticipation as Taggart took to the box. Fastball. Boom. Three run-home-run over the right field wall.

Instead of exhaling, the Reds knew they could not let up. Lewnes retired the next six batters in order and the Reds were finally allowed to breathe and enjoy the great team win. At least until game two started.
