The Twins took a three run lead in the first and never looked back. Scott Johnson went five shutout innings to help the Twins take game 1, 6-3. Andrew Lewnes and Randy Shain provided the offense for the Reds who commited three costly errors.

What should have been the third out of the first inning turned into the first of three errors on the day. With two on and two out, David Micallef, singled in the first run of the game. Following another error, Ken Harry connected on a single up the middle to plate two more to help the Twins win 6-3 and up their win streak to three.

Reds starting pitcher, Mike Banwer, pitched well enough to win -- 5IP / 2ER / 8H / 2K -- but with the sloppy defense it was not meant to be. Dylan Borden came in to relieve Banwer in the sixth striking out two while not allowing a hit. Scott Johnson got the win for the Twins, his fourth of the year. He gave up four hits while shutting out the Reds for five innings. He walked two while striking out seven.

The Reds finally got on the board when Chris Zarobinski hit Andrew Lewnes in the sixth. He would later come around to score on a Randy Shain single. The Reds would also score two more runs on a Lewnes single in the seventh but that'd be as close as they got.
