NJABL Postseason 2015

As we enter July, many teams have inquired about make-ups and playoff structure. All managers have received communication from the league in regards to make-ups by now, but we will take things one step further and provide you with all the current information on scheduling, playoffs and make-ups.

Due to the weather over the past 2 weeks, we have extended the season for all leagues through Wednesday July 29th. This gives you the additional Sunday July 26th to schedule games, as well as more weeknight opportunities to get games played. Our postseason structure, as you can see, lasts longer than any other league in the area, so we need to save August to ensure the postseason goes as planned. (Please note, all dates are subject to change if necessary)

MAKE-UPS: Many teams have games to play due to rain outs or late starts. Those who started late understood that games needed to be played, or they potentially could hurt in the standings. We have assisted in re-scheduling nearly 80% of postponed games already, only a few remain to be scheduled.

Section E:10, A called game that is not official shall be made up. The make-up game must be scheduled within two weeks of the called game, and the game must be played within a time frame deemed reasonable by the League Council.

Many teams have scheduled games on Saturday or weeknights to get games played. Remember, you are rewarded with 1 point for receiving a loss, and 0 points for not playing. Even if you have 9 guys show up, it pays to play. That 1 point can be the difference in playoff seeding, or in some cases, just getting into the playoffs.

BRACKETS

We have 3 brackets for postseason play, as we allow participants based on league size

8-10 team leagues: 6 Playoff Teams, which applies to North Premier, South Premier, Amateur, North Amateur AAA & South Amateur AAA

12 Team: 8 Playoff Teams, which applies to North Intermediate & Intermediate AAA

14/16 Team leagues: 10 Playoff Teams, which applies only to South Intermediate

POSTSEASON

We are fully against "one and done" mentality when it comes to the postseason. We believe that teams play a full slate of regular season games to earn their spot in playoffs, and that they deserve the opportunity to thrive. Due to this belief, our playoff structure is more complex and longer than anybody else.  Take note that the brackets created are a general guide to our postseason, and not in stone.

Good luck the rest of the way!
