The Colt .45s made the most of their second chance in the 2014 post season.

Entering the playoffs as the #3 seed in the North West, the Colt .45s drew a matchup against the #2 Montclair Mets in round 1 on Sat July 19th. The Mets won 9-6, dropping the Colt. 45s into the Elimination Bracket with each game a sudden death matchup. They defeated the Pirates the next day 6-4. They came back the following Saturday and defeated the top seeded Livingston A's 5-4, then Sunday against the Mets in the Division finals, won 15-9 to push a Game 2. On Saturday August 2nd, they beat the Mets again 19-3 to win the West Division and advance to the North Finals against the Bergen Blue Jays who had not lost yet in the post season. On Sunday Aug 3rd, they battled to a 9-4 win, and then finished off their incredible run with a 9-4 victory on Saturday evening (Aug 9th) against the Blue Jays ace Matt Scarber to secure their back to back championship. After losing their first playoff game (which would have eliminated them in many competitor leagues) the Colt .45s regrouped and pulled off 6 straight victories to put them back on top. They are the first Spring team to win the championship out of the Elimination bracket, becomming proof to all teams that you can still take home the title the hard way. 

Congratulations to the Colt .45s who will now have a week to rest while we await the South Intermediate champion, which should be crowned Sunday August 17th in Piscataway. The two championship teams will battle for the Commissioner's Cup on Sunday August 24th at TD Bank Ballpark to determine the BEST INTERMEDIATE team of 2014. 

The league would also like to acknowledge the Bergen Blue Jays for their efforts in their first Spring season. Incredible run, and we look forward to watching the Jays defend their title this upcoming Fall season.
