League to host and help bring awareness to communities in NJ

Supporting our Veterans, Raising Awareness in the Community

The New Jersey Amateur Baseball League is proud to announce 2 exhibition softball games scheduled against the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) in the Spring 2015. The goal is to deliver a unique opportunity for our players, help raise community awareness and raise funding for this great cause.

The mission of WWAST is to raise awareness of the sacrifices and resilience of our military, and highlight their ability to rise above any challenge. Their goal is to show other amputees and the general population, that these athletes through extensive rehabilitation and training are able to express their desires and perform the sport they love.

The team is comprised of young, competitive, athletic veterans and active duty soldiers who have lost limbs post- 9/11, while serving their country in the miliatry/war. The team includes individuals with a variety of amputations of the arm, above knee, below knee, and foot.

The athletes of WWAST are examples of amputees who continue to push the limits of modern prosthetic technology with more and more applications. The vision is to support and honor our soldiers and veteran sacrifices, and to show other amputees and everyone who sees or heads about them, that life without a limb is limitless. They have been very inspriational to communities across the US.

The New Jersey Amateur Baseball League is happy to offer an opportunity for our players to participate in such an experience. We will communicate in early 2015 how to be part of these games, as well as additional information regarding location/date/time. In order to be eligible for play, players must be part of a 2014 season with the league. All levels of play are invited to get involved, and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Stay tuned for more information. You can read more about them at http://www.woundedwarrioramputeesoftballteam.org/
