Finals Start Sunday

The New Jersey Amateur Baseball League is gearing up for finals, which will begin this weekend for Metal, North Premiere Wood and South Wood.

In South Wood, the NJ Shockers, after a 7-1 victory over the Central Jersey Cardinals on Aug 4th, will await the winner of the Loser Bracket Finals on Saturday, which has the Cardinals battling the scrappy Somerset Clippers who have already notched 3 victories in the post season to keep their championship dreams alive. The Clippers will face the Cardinals in Manalapan Saturday at 9am, with the winner moving to Sundays final showdown with the 17-1 Shockers at John Phillips Park at noon.

In Metal, the New Providence Reds continue to show that they are the team to beat, with a huge victory last Sunday over the Tri-County Twins. They are awaiting Game 1 of the Finals at Snyder Ave Field for 5pm. The Twins will host the Riverside Vets at 3:30pm Sunday at BIllian, to determine who advances in a best of 3 with the Reds.

Finally in North Premiere, the Pompton Chicos have enjoyed success all season and currently find themselves 1 win away from being crowned North Premiere Champions, and earning the first berth to the Premiere Finals vs the South. Playing for the right to battle them at Overpeck Sunday night at 7pm are the USA Black Sox, who earned the #1 seed in the North and the Clifton Slates, who have gone 3-1 in the post season thus far. They will hit the field at Ramapo Saturday morning at 11am, with the season on the line.
