Playoffs kick off... Regular Season Comes to Close

Playoffs are in full effect!

This past Sunday, our final regular season games were played in South Premiere Wood, which means our Inaugural regular season has completed... and with some fantastic results.

We were able to deliver beyond expectations, which is pretty remarkable considering there were some real negative folks out there trying to bury us before we even threw a pitch

This year, we had 52 teams come on board. Here are the fun stats looking back at the season

  • 50 of our 52 teams completed a 18 game schedule (96%) with the other 2 teams completing 17 (final game was scheduled, but canceled due to weather)
  • The league played 467 games in regular season, with 21 forfeits (4%). Half of the forfeits stemmed from 2 teams who will not be returning next season.
  • Roughly half of our player base participated in a game at Newark Bears & Eagles Riverfront Park.
  • We played 9 regular season games, 3 All-Star Games, and 2 exhibition games vs Newark Bears at Riverfront.
  • Every game this season, there were 2 umpires assigned and present (no fans, players or managers officiating their own games)
  • We took over 15,000 photos, covering nearly 80% of teams (number will increase with playoff coverage)

As we push into playoffs, it truly has been a great foundation year for the league. Teams have been entering stats, updating photos, and getting involved more with the league site which has been good to see.

North Wood, Metal and South Wood all enter week 2 of the playoffs. We've seen a 7 seed knock out a 2, a 6 seed defeat a 3, and a few other upsets thus far. All #1 seeds remain in the winner brackets.

This Sunday, the New Providence Reds will host the Tri-County Twins to determine the Winner Bracket representative in the Metal Finals. In North Premiere, the USA Black Sox host the Pompton Chicos for North Premiere Winner bracket rep. In South Wood, the NJ Shockers will host the Central Jersey Cardinals for Winner bracket champ as well.

In the North Wood winner bracket, the NJ Vipers will host the Morristown Patriots, while top seed Colt .45's host the Jersey Bombers.

In Premiere South, they kick off their playoffs with NJ Marlins vs Middlesex Tigers and Boro Brewers hosting the Perth Amboy Braves Saturday, with the NJ Indians and Somerville Giants eagerly awaiting their opponents on Sunday.

The frenzy is on... playoff fever is on! Good luck to our teams this weekend
