Fall Baseball: Discounts to Returning Teams

When Tim and I started talking Fall baseball, we were excited at the possibilities of bringing some new teams in to try our league out. The most important item for us, was to ensure we did it right and took the honest approach with our new friends (teams/managers). At this point, we feel we've made some good relationships with our managers, and that this is more than business for us.

As players, we always looked at the Fall as an extra season that not many people took seriously. With football starting on Sundays and college players returning to school, the field of teams playing the Fall season dramatically decreases. The rosters also change for those returning teams. The Fall is a passion season, where the guys who love the game return to play one short season in an attempt to reach the coveted Finals. From previous experience, we sort of had an idea on what we wanted to change as former players.

The first thing to note, if you are a returning Spring team playing Fall with us, your team gets a $100 discount on your league fee. The reason for this is simple, your Spring Insurance Policy is an "ANNUAL" policy. If we charged you full price, we would be double charging you on insurance. If you look over your team insurance, it clearly states that coverage starts around April 1st 2013 and ends March 30, 2014. Discounts should be given, its the honest approach here.

Next thing, we wanted to extend our Spring model to the Fall the best we could. If we have 20+ teams competing, we plan to offer a Fall All-Star Game. That's a bonus game we are building into the model if the interest level is there. Obviously it is an expense for us, so we just want to ensure that we have the teams in place to make it a reality before promising it's happening.

With the weather changing, and knowing the hurdles involved with completing a Fall season, we are building a season of 5 Double Headers, then playoffs. Obviously rainouts may extend our season, but we do not want to see games being played at Thanksgiving or beyond. We are trying to avoid the headache for all players. I've played in December, and it is not fun trying to wrap up a title in a rain/snow mixture. More important for our players, it's not safe.

Lastly, all the good stuff you got in the Spring (PAID PLAYOFF UMPIRES, 2 mobile apps, dynamic/enhanced website, A1015 baseballs, full season scheduling before opening day, double elimination playoffs, team insurance, trophies, carded umpires, free team equipment, photography) extends to the fall.

If you look it over... $850 with a field in the fall for 10 games, plus a potential stadium all-star game, guaranteed 2 games for playoff teams and playoff umpires paid for is a fee that is above and beyond better than anything else you can find on the open market. For returning teams, it's $100 less which makes it an even better deal. We promised the world in the Spring and delivered, there is no reason not to show faith in us this fall.

We are a league about our players... delivering the most exciting experience on the Sunday baseball market today. We hope that our Spring teams that play Fall baseball come back to play with us. Aside from the price breaks, the overall experience we hope will be seen as uncomparable.
